Danube - Year Three
This half term we are continuing our topic ‘Stone Age to Iron Age’ so we will be learning all about this pre-historic time period – including, how the hunter -gatherers survived, Stone Age art, Stonehenge, Bronze Age goods, life in an Iron Age hill fort and Iron age Art
Our art work will also link to our topic.
We will use the books ‘Stone age Boy’, ‘How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth’, ‘The Wild Way Home’ and ‘Stig of the Dump’ for our reading, writing and grammar lessons. We will be writing instruction, recounts descriptions and our own portal stories.
We also have 4 drama workshops where we will act scenes from the story of ‘Stone Age Boy’.
In Maths we will continue to practice arithmetic using all 4 operations. We will also learn all about time, Geometry -properties of shape and statistics. We will also be practicing 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 times tables every day and key skills every week.
In science we are learning all about ‘light’. We will continue our PE sessions and swimming on Wednesdays.
Our PSHe topic is ‘spending, saving and budgeting’ and our Mind Mate topic is ‘Solving problems – making it better’.
