Happy New Year! Danube have been working really hard already this term!

We have enjoyed talking about, and reading our class novel ‘The Iron man’ by Ted Hughes. We have read the first chapter already and have been developing out reading strategies by asking questions, making connections, visualising and re-telling the key points in the text.

We have also started the first draft of our art work - look out for the finished product.

LEPP Debating Competition

On Thursday, we attended Leeds East Primary Partnership Debating Competition. We had been practising our speaking and presenting skills in class and had become excellent at arguing our point and trying to persuade our audience. Our debating team presented their argument opposing ‘Every child should stay in education up to the age of 18.’ . We showed excellent use of emphasis and body language and used convincing emotive language to win the debate! Well done to our team and also all of Amazon for their hard work in helping our team.

Danube’s Amazing Storybox Settings

For our learning log homework this week we have made storybox settings for our class novel The Jungle Book. They are fantastic and we are using them in class to help us with our writing. Well done to everyone who made a special effort with these they are amazing!

Recognising Reading Effort in KS2

Children who have put in particular effort in reading at home and completing their Reading Diary to a high standard, were rewarded with an inflatable bungie rope session. Everyone had an exhausting, invigorating session trying to pull over their opponent and collect all their tokens first. Teeth were gritted, arms pumped and bodies flew everywhere! What a great way to celebrate effort in reading!
