Take 10 to learn to read to love to read!

Children take part in daily English lessons which build on their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.

Children are taught to express themselves creatively and imaginatively and to communicate with others effectively. Children learn how to speak confidently and listen to what others say. Children also learn how to change the way they speak and write to suit different situations, purposes and audiences. They learn to read and write independently and with enthusiasm.

We use a range of resources to support the teaching of synthetic systematic phonics. We use the phonics progression, which is outlined in our Early Reading Policy, to ensure teaching is rigorous and children are well supported to make rapid progress. (Phonics progression is aligned to Little Wandle Letters and Sounds and Phonics Bug)
